Dr. Jason Hitkari

MD, FRCSC
“It is important to me to create an environment with time to understand what patients are going through.”

Dr. Jason Hitkari is co-founder and co-director of Olive Fertility Centre and a clinical professor at UBC. He is the past-President of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology and Society (CFAS) 2020-2021 and is a current CFAS Board Member.

After completing his training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia (where he received awards for clinical teaching and research), Dr. Hitkari went on to do a formal fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Hitkari was thrilled to receive the UBC Medical Undergraduate Class of 2012 and Class of 2014 Outstanding Educator Awards, and is proudest of being the recipient of the H. Hill Humanitarian award for exceptional patient care.

Dr. Hitkari discovered his passion for fertility medicine early in his training. He found specializing in fertility allowed him to take time and develop a personal relationship with each patient, helping them make the best choice for their own situation. He also loved the challenge of new technology and the excitement of collaborating with a team of other specialists, including highly skilled embryologists and andrologists. Upon completing his fellowship, he joined Genesis Fertility Centre as a co-director. In 2013, Dr Hitkari co-founded Olive Fertility Centre, where he continues as co-director.

Dr. Hitkari has a special interest in education and is currently coordinates the reproductive and infertility education for the first year medical students at UBC.  Through the year, he also provides seminars to family practitioners, family practice residents, allied health professionals.

As a dedicated patient advocate, Dr. Hitkari was a past board member for Fertility Matters Canada.

Dr. Hitkari was a past examiner in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, which is the body that examines physicians who have completed training. Furthermore, Dr. Hitkari is a former member of the Non-Hospital Committee at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, where he was involved in overseeing the accreditation and regulation of surgical facilities.

A 35-year resident of Vancouver, Dr Hitkari loves everything about the city.
