Rachel Butler

Genetic Counsellor

Rachel Butler joined the Olive team as our genetic counsellor in September, 2013. Rachel is excited to be offering the latest genetic testing technology for both patients embarking on a pregnancy at Olive Fertility and those who are already pregnant.

   

She completed her BSc at UVic and her MSc in genetic counselling at UBC. She has had extensive experience in the field, with a special interest in Prenatal Genetics. Rachel has worked in the Maritime Medical Genetics Service in Halifax as the prenatal and metabolic point person, and in Vancouver at Genesis Fertility, doing First Trimester Prenatal Screening.

   

Rachel is both Canadian and American-Board Certified and is currently a Clinical Instructor at UBC. She has completed a 4-year term on the Canadian Genetic Counselling Certification Committee and was also editor of the Canadian Genetic Counselling newsletter. She has a strong research interest and has participated in numerous research projects that have been presented at international meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals.
