Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!  Every time one of my patients does a pregnancy test I hold my breath a little bit, but at Christmastime I hold it a long time. When I am doing treatments like IVF or inseminations, or really any fertility treatment, in December I feel particularly anxious that patients might get bad news over the holidays.  While everyone doesn’t celebrate Christmas, most people have extra time off around this time of year and spend it with family - family who poke and prod about pregnancy plans and ask when or why you haven’t had children yet.  It puts a magnifying glass on your pain/fears/hopes.

On the the positive side many, many of my patients find out they are pregnant at or around Christmas which makes this time particularly magical.

However you are spending your time I hope it is positive.  If it’s not let’s make a plan to turn this around in 2018.  Fertility treatments are becoming more and more successful and there are more and more options to bring life into your family.

Happy holidays!
