Alice and Travis

It took us 6 long, exhausting, and emotional years but here we are with our incredible 6-month-old son River and none of it seems to matter yet it will forever be a part of our story. 2 IUIs, 1 egg retrieval, 4 rounds of IVF with 3 ETFs, hundreds of injections, blood tests and tears, acupuncture, supplements and dietary changes yet not a single positive pregnancy test.

But we didn’t give up and that was largely in part due to Dr. Nakhuda and his team at Olive Fertility’s guidance and support. In April 2019, we learned surrogacy was a more viable option. In October 2019, we were matched with an angel in San Diego. We were fortunate to beat the pandemic and finally got to experience our first positive result in February 2020. On October 7, 2020, at 3:05 am, we welcomed River to the world, weighing 8 lbs 11 oz and rocking a full head of hair. He continues to break our hearts on a daily and we couldn’t be more in love.

This is a Coles Notes version of our journey but we hope it inspires the #1in6 struggling with infertility to stay strong, hopeful, and resilient.

Thank you for continuing to raise awareness with the #1in6 initiative.
