Overview:
Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose, and Commitment of Olive Fertility Centre:
Reporting to the Director of Clinic Operations, the Division Leader – IVF Nursing Team works in close partnership with the other Nursing Leaders, Lab Director, Human Resources, and the Controller. The incumbent coordinates and supervises the nursing care of patients participating in various ART programs (IVF, IVF/ICSI, MESA/TESE, Donor Oocyte, Donor Insemination, Superovulation, Embryo Donation, Gestational Carriers and Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis). This position oversees patient education, nursing orientation, training and evaluation, implementation of treatment protocols, coordination of research protocols, and acts as a liaison with other clinic areas and community resources.
Key Areas of Involvement Include:
Participates in the strategic planning process related to broader organizational and/or program specific areas of responsibility. In collaboration with the Division Leader team, develops, implements, evaluates, and updates service /treatment specific plans, goals and objectives, policies and procedures, and related guidelines and documentation; ensures consistency and compatibility with accepted standards of clinical practice and accreditation bodies.
Working with Human Resources, recruits and manages nursing staff in accordance with professional standards, performance expectations and current contractual obligations; provides for co-operative working relationships and development of IVF nursing orientation and training programs.
Manages the operations of the nursing department; assigns nurses, co-ordinates and manages patient care services and activities.
Motivates nursing team members and disciplines as per Progressive Discipline processes under the guidance of Human Resources.
Provides six-month evaluations for new employees and annual evaluations for all members of the nursing department.
Monitors indicators and takes corrective action to ensure that treatment programs and services continue to operate efficiently and effectively.
Reviews and corrects all problems associated with documentation and consents.
· Participates in the development and implementation of new treatment protocols.
Takes a lead role in coordinating complaint reviews/inspections/audits to address concerns regarding patient care and processes.
Participates in the development and maintenance of administrative and clinical information systems; eIVF patient database and BORN database.
Acts as a resource to team nurses and provides information on infertility and assisted reproductive technologies to other health care professionals in the community.
Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship and ongoing communications with medical staff, laboratory staff, administrative/finance staff and community agencies used as resources for patient needs.
Manages overtime – seeks to keep it to a minimum so that nurses, NOAs, and SSTs are not overtaxed, where appropriate reviews individuals’ workflow and time management practices.
Ensures the co-medical directors are informed and aware of significant events and activities in the area(s) of responsibility.
Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
· Baccalaureate Degree
· Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business, or other health related discipline is an asset.
· Minimum two (2) years in a management role, preferably with Nursing management experience.
· If a nurse, a Current Practicing registration with BCCNM.
