B.C. Publicly Funded IVF Program – Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know my application has been submitted?

When we are processing your appointment window we will send you consents to fill out and start the application process. Once we receive your signed consents back, we will submit your application and notify you by email. Please see our website for updates on the appointment window of applications we are processing.

Can I apply my funding to previous treatment cycles?

No, funding can not be used to reimburse previous cycles or outstanding invoices. Funding can only be applied to cycles started AFTER your funding application is approved and your clinic has notified you of your funding amount and next steps.

Can I start treatment as soon as I receive funding?

Because the Ministry of Health allocates funds quarterly, you should not expect to start treatment right away. Once you receive your approval you will be notified of next steps.

Does my funding expire?

Yes, you have one year from the date of approval to use your funding.

Can I use funding for medications?

Yes, you can use your funding for medications as long as they are purchased through Olive’s pharmacy/dispensary. This is a Ministry of Health guideline and more information can be found on their website. Funding can not be used for reimbursement for medications purchased through your local pharmacy.
